Are we beginning to hit a ceiling when it comes to obtaining new knowledge?
Have you ever got to a point where the sources you normally go to for obtaining knowledge in a specific field have nothing more to add, that you already don't know?
I have hit a wall when it comes to obtaining new knowledge from YouTube and blog posts, I have hit saturation. This might be happening to you as well. This doesn't mean we know everything quite the contrary, just that we have already heard what is being repeated over and over again on those platforms.
A book comes out about a subject, and every social media person in that space regurgitates that knowledge in their own interpreted. Over and over again, a content format we have all stumbled upon.
What does this mean?
Well, it means that you have exhausted those resources for knowledge, and it is time to look elsewhere. When you go and find another source of information, you might find that it as well is repeating knowledge you have already obtained.
This is very common regarding contemporary information. My suggestion is to go back in time to the sources that influenced your understanding. Go back in history to find articles, books, and media that have long been forgotten, or people don't have the time to sift through it because it doesn't come it bitesize formats.
When I want to find inspiration or learn something, my default is to watch a video about it on YouTube, TikTok, or tutorial websites. But I'm finding if the information is timeless and not current, like how to use Notion - but rather trying to obtain what defines a good life or how to be productive.
These areas have plagued mankind for centuries. So it is only logical to look back centuries and find the solutions they came up with to solve those timeless problems. It is here that we obtain knowledge we have never heard before. Because it's no longer current or trending. It's dated, and even in some cases wrong.
But don't let those issues dissuade you from venturing, as when we see a solution that is no longer relevant, it reinforces your current method.
Are we beginning to hit a wall when it comes to knowledge?
I would argue definitely not. But depending on your sources, you might be getting saturated with current repeating information that you already know.
It takes an adventurer to find new lands, relics, and history. I implore you to do the same, adventure into the past, pick up old books and track through them in hopes of finding a hidden temple with nothing but treasure locked inside, forgotten in time.
Go forth and find the new in the old, knowledge from the past, timeless and full of wisdom, forgotten in this fast pass digital age.
