Life is messy
Life is messy. We have all these things we want to do and accomplish while fighting this wonderful thing called procrastination. You know, doom scrolling and lazing on the couch, watching streaming services, which is fun, relaxing, and oh so good for the soul. Well, that's what we tell ourselves.
Life is messy because things happen that we don't expect, which keeps us on our toes/ Which in turn makes life interesting, and so very emotional. What would a week be like if I didn't dread running out of my food budget, to decide to walk to the grocery shops to save money so I could buy more food? Life would be easy, with no challenges and as a result, boring.
Life is messy because people we love leave us, we meet new people, and have to also talk and listen to people that are so boring out of politeness. This gets especially hard when I have things I need to accomplish, like becoming a writer and making reading books my full-time profession. Hell, if I could, I would take photos for fun and write as a vacation all my life. But I have to pay the bills and slave. So procrastination becomes a barrier to entry, a road block to the person I want to become.
Life is messy; there is so much to do, choose from, and we only get to pick a few things to master in our lives. But why not make a mess of it and pick a few more things and leave that master status behind? Become a baker, wedding photographer, social media manager, writer, gym instructor, philosopher, and psychiatrist while we are at it. More things to bounce off of, and more things to learn and bring newness into our lives. And resulting in a less boning life.
Life is messy; bodies are gross, sweaty, full of fluids and sticky. But we have them and have to use what we have. Let's just try and keep them as healthy and clean as we possibly can. But entropy does put a barrier in our way; once an egg is cracked open, we can't put the egg back together. We aren't all the king's horses and men after all. We are just little old fragile us. So we need to take care of it before we break and become scrambled eggs. And procrastination quickens entropy in our bodies, in our mind, and in our future happiness.
Life is messy; things change, people move on, thoughts and ideas evolve, and everyone lives in their own world. So all we can do is live in ours and live it as best we can, how we believe to be true. Procrastination is a deterrent in moving our lives forward, but at the same time, don't fall into the trap of toxic productivity. You are not a conveyable of goods and services, we need rest, we need downtime. I only ask that you work on your own goals just as much as you work on someone else's for that pay check. Life is messy, but I wouldn't have it any other way.
