I’m a morning person
I don't stay up late, or get up early to brag or show that I'm working late. It's not a flex or an insecurity I need to broadcast. I get up early to work on myself, to work out, write, go for a walk, and read. The only difference between working late and getting up early is that my endeavors don't benefit capitalism or my ego.
I get up early to find peace and to get work done, like many people who work late. But my work isn't for an employer; it isn't to make money. My work is on myself self-love and self-care. Do you honestly think I write to get rich or famous? I write because it's how I think, how I process my thoughts and the world around me. Writing is how I get my conscious mind to communicate with my subconscious mind. The only difference is that the writing goes up on a blog instead of into a diary.
I get up early because I'm a morning person. I used to think that people who slept in were lazy, had bad sleep schedules, or just wanted a little more time to relax before going back to work. I now know that some people are neurologically wired to stay up late. I'm a morning person, always have been, always will be.
I tried staying up late, going to bed around 1 am or midnight for a few months. Honestly, I felt like crap; I was always tired, and my productivity went down. I wasn't a functioning human. Then, in the month leading up to the new year, I started going to bed early and waking up at 5 am. I have never felt better in my life.
I haven't changed anything else, still eat crap food, still do the same job. The only two things that have drastically changed are going to bed and getting up at a different time, getting 8 hours of sleep instead of 7 or 6 hours, and working out every day. I can't believe that just a different time can make such a difference to your mind, body, and health. I can't believe that there are people like me, morning people.
Now there is a toxic trend of successful morning people, and people getting up early, and others trying to replicate it. But take these people with a grain of salt; this doesn't work for everyone. And I don't advocate for people to go against their own natural circadian rhythm. Your body will tell you if what you are doing is healthy for it.
I don't stay up late; I get up early, not because it's trendy but because I'm naturally a morning person. What kind of person are you?
