Incremental steps
We have all done new years resolutions. The day before or the week after we all come up with the most stereotype goals, mainly all physical or finical. That first month most of us stick to it. Getting past February is amazing if you're still in there, but here is where most of us lose focus or motivation to continue as we aren't seeing results. Heres how to stick with it till you start seeing results and your goals are achieved.
Incremental steps. Yes, that's how it's done. Getting up at 6 am and going to the gym while eating healthy and cutting back on social obligations so you don't have that second cider is well almost imposable. Instead, do incremental steps. Start with just getting up at 6 am. Once that becomes a habit and is sustainable add to it. Slowly you will reach your goal, sure it's not fast or glamorous or brag-able, but it's a small step towards life-changing habits that you can build on.
For myself, I wish to read a book a week and write a blog post a week and upload new images to social media daily. Oh and start to sell my prints. All of this is a feat in itself. But if I start with just having to write at least once a day. It doesn't have to be good, I don't even have to finish it. But I need to get in the practice of writing regardless, until its a habit. Reading once a week is the next step, but let's not jump the gun. That's appealing but not wise. Only move onto another increment of your goal once you formed the previous step of your goal into a habit.
Now you know. It's not the quickest or easiest but it is the most effective in order to reach your goals and effecting life long habits, and achievements that will change your life for the better. It might not happen today or even this month, but it will happen as long as you stick to forming incremental habits. And before you know it, you're a new person that achieves their dreams.
